What is Goods and Services Tax(GST)?
The government of India charges taxes on the sale of goods and services in India. This tax is called GST(Goods or Services Tax)
The rate of GST varies from 0% to 28%, based on the goods sold or services provided. On almost all of the freelance services, the tax rate is 18%. This means,if you are registered with GST and you provide a service of ₹ 100, you will collect ₹ 118 from your client and deposit ₹18 rupees as tax to the government, while keeping ₹100 for yourself
You may think you can save money by not registering for GST. But this is illegal and called tax evasion. The government can catch you and punish you with big fines or jail time. So, if the law says you need to sign up for GST, you must do it
